The Harlow- Kitchen of Simplistic Elegance

A significant amount of thought went into the design of our Kitchen. As a matter of fact we designed three different kitchens before we landed on the final design of our Kitchen. We took all of the elements we loved in each of our designs and put them into a design that complemented the layout of the kitchen beautifully.

The simplistic design became an understated spectacle of our home. We are so pleased with how it all turned out and the way it complimented our architecture and overall design of our home. So lets jump into the design details of our kitchen:

First off, our cabinets were done by Fashion Cabinets. They did a fantastic job. Jeremy was so great to work with. He was able to take all my crazy ideas and turn them into a feasible reality. He had a knack for taking my vision and turning it into a reality.

The Hood-  Our hood was a custom design and believe it or not it was done within our budget. It ended up being even less expensive than the other hoods in our previous renditions. I wanted a triangular shape, that paired simplicity with beautiful complimentary details. The crown and the corbels added the touch that really made this an understated spectacle of our Kitchen.

Cabinets- We did a shaker cabinet with a small bead detail in it. We went with all white. To tie in the airy modern style of our home.

Cabinet Hardware- We went with a thick black modern industrail hardware, to tie in our modern railing in the Great room. I love finding subtle details to tie the styles of each room together even though they are overall dramatically different. Its a great way to bring continuity into the design of the home without it feeling too over done or all the same.

Counter tops- Our Kitchen Counter top, We choose a "White Ice" Granite Slab. I love how it looks in the space. The black veins throughout tie in the hardware while still having the overall look of the kitchen color a clean white.

Appliances- we chose a GE Cafe series. Thank you to Ferguson for helping us select the appliancs that will help us create many meals and therefore memories together as a family.

Back splash- Is a white subway tile in a brick pattern. With the exception of the herringbone pattern under our hood.

We loved how our kitchen came together. We would also love to hear what you think about it, and answer any questions you might have. Tell us in the comments what you would like to know.

We hope this inspires you in your journey of designing the life you love, and the home of your dreams.
